How This Equipment Works
Agnes is a device that inserts a very fine insulated microneedle directly into the follicle and sebaceous gland unit, then delivers 1MHz monopolar radiofrequency (RF) energy in an instant.
The shaft of the needle is covered with an insulating coating, so almost no heat is transferred to the epidermis and upper dermis; heat is generated only at the exposed needle tip. This heat selectively coagulates the problematic sebaceous gland tissue, reducing the source of excess sebum production and inflammation.
Multiple needle tips with different lengths and insulation zones can be selected according to the depth and location of the lesion, allowing conditions to be tailored from thin-skinned areas to areas where the sebaceous glands sit deep.
Unlike lasers that rely on light absorption, the needle reaches the target depth directly to deliver energy, so it is used to address acne that keeps coming back in the same spots.

How long does the treatment take?
The needling itself takes about 20–40 minutes depending on the number and extent of lesions. Since 30–40 minutes is separately needed for the numbing cream to absorb, it is best to allow at least an hour from arrival to departure.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?
Because microneedles enter the skin, the procedure is performed after a generous application of numbing cream. After anesthesia, you feel only a slight prick as the needle enters and a momentary sensation of heat.
What about recovery and returning to daily life?
Redness, swelling, and fine scabs may appear right after the procedure and usually subside within a few days to a week. Visiting the next day to extract residue remaining in the sebaceous glands gives a cleaner result, and washing and basic makeup are possible from the following day.
How many sessions, and at what interval?
A basic course is generally 3 sessions at 4-week intervals, extended to 3–5 sessions depending on the extent of lesions and recurrence. Changes become gradually visible from 2 weeks after treatment and accumulate with each session.
Which treatments pair well with it?
During periods of active inflammation, it is combined with extraction, scaling, and acne medication to first reduce the number of lesions. Once the inflammation has settled, laser treatments addressing red marks and scars are often planned next.
