How This Equipment Works
Belotero is a hyaluronic acid filler line from Merz Aesthetics in Germany. It is made of non-animal hyaluronic acid cross-linked with BDDE and suspended in a physiological buffer; Balance, the flagship formulation, contains hyaluronic acid at a concentration of 22.5mg/mL.
At its core is CPM (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) technology. Through a distinctive cross-linking process, zones of higher and lower density are created within a single gel, and thanks to this structure the gel is designed to spread through tissue and settle in without conspicuous edges.
Each product targets a different layer: Soft and Balance are used for shallow wrinkles in the superficial to mid dermis, Intense for deep wrinkles and lips in the deep dermis and submucosal or subcutaneous layers, and Volume for volume replacement in the subcutaneous layer.
Formulations containing lidocaine are available to reduce discomfort during injection, and the injected gel is gradually broken down in the body over time.

How long does the procedure take?
For a single area, the injection itself takes about 10 to 20 minutes. Including design consultation, numbing cream application, and post-procedure care, expect 40 to 60 minutes for the visit.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?
Numbing cream is applied before the procedure, and using a lidocaine-containing formulation helps reduce discomfort during injection. For sensitive areas such as the lips, additional anesthesia is considered when needed.
What about recovery and downtime?
Swelling and redness at the injection sites usually ease within 2 to 3 days, and any bruising fades within about a week. Daily activities are possible from the day of treatment; for the first few days, avoid rubbing or pressing the treated area firmly.
How many sessions, and at what interval?
In most cases the shape is achieved with a single injection, with a small touch-up after 2 weeks if needed. Duration is generally between 6 months and 1 year depending on the product and area, and re-treatment is planned after an assessment at that point.
Can it be combined with other procedures?
It is often planned in combination with botulinum toxin, skin boosters, and radiofrequency or ultrasound lifting. For heat-based device treatments, the order relative to the filler-injected area is adjusted accordingly.
