Thermage FLX (4th Generation)

Used for concerns where skin texture and elasticity have declined, such as fine lines on the forehead and around the eyes, lax skin, and enlarged pores. Radiofrequency creates heat in the dermis to contract collagen while the epidermis is protected by cooling, helping improve wrinkles and elasticity.

How It Works

How This Equipment Works

Thermage FLX (4th Generation) 원리

Thermage FLX is a 4th-generation device that uses 6.78MHz monopolar radiofrequency. The radiofrequency flows from the tip to a return pad attached to the body, and the electrical resistance of the tissue in between generates heat.

It uses a reverse thermal gradient: the epidermis is cooled with cryogen while the dermis is heated. Dermal collagen contracts immediately upon heating, and new collagen is then generated over several months, helping improve wrinkles and elasticity.

At the heart of FLX is AccuREP technology. With every shot, the skin's impedance is measured and the energy automatically adjusted, so the heat delivered stays uniform even as skin condition varies from area to area.

Compared with the 3rd generation, the tip area is larger — covering the same area with fewer shots — and the vibration and cooling systems have also been improved.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the procedure take?

It takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour for the full face. Larger areas such as the body take longer, and time for numbing cream application should be allowed for separately.

Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?

A warm, hot sensation is felt momentarily as the radiofrequency is delivered. Tip cooling and vibration work together to keep the sensation low by design, and numbing cream may also be applied before the procedure.

What about recovery and returning to daily life?

As a non-invasive procedure, you can return to daily activities immediately afterward. Redness or mild swelling may appear but usually subsides within a day.

How many sessions, and how often?

It is usually planned as a single session, with changes appearing gradually over 2 to 6 months. The interval for maintenance re-treatment is decided at consultation after assessing your skin condition.

Can it be combined with other procedures?

Combining it with ultrasound lifting, botulinum toxin, and fillers is a common approach. Radiofrequency handles dermal tightening and skin texture, while ultrasound handles lifting of the deeper layers, allowing the roles to be divided.
