How This Equipment Works
PicoSure is a laser that delivers a 755nm alexandrite wavelength in picosecond (one-trillionth of a second) pulses. At 755nm, melanin absorption is high while hemoglobin absorption is relatively low, making it well suited to targeting pigment.
Because the pulse duration is extremely short, the energy is delivered before heat can spread to the surroundings. Pigment particles are shattered by instantaneous pressure waves rather than heat, and this approach contributes to lowering the thermal burden on the epidermis.
With the focus lens array attached, fine photomechanical reactions are created in the epidermis to induce collagen and elastin production in the dermis, so beyond pigment, it is also used for skin texture and scar improvement.
The finely fragmented pigment is gradually cleared by macrophages, so the color fades over several weeks after treatment.

How long does the treatment take?
Treating the full face takes about 15–30 minutes. Treating only localized pigment finishes sooner, with time for cleansing and soothing care added.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?
You feel a momentary snap like the flick of a rubber band, and most treatments proceed without anesthesia. When treating localized spots at higher power, numbing cream is applied first.
What about recovery and returning to daily life?
There is redness and warmth right after treatment, but it usually subsides within a few hours, allowing washing and makeup the same day. Areas treated locally at high power may form fine scabs; do not pick them off before they fall away naturally.
How many sessions and how often?
Depending on the depth and extent of the pigment, treatment is repeated over multiple sessions at 3–4 week intervals. When done as toning, the interval may be shorter, with the number of sessions adjusted based on the response.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Soothing or regenerative care and skin boosters are often given on the same day after treatment. To reduce pigment recurrence, brightening ointments and sunscreen are used alongside.
