Facial Redness · Rosacea

Get facial flushing treated before it becomes rosacea
— don't wait

"Why is your face so red?"

If you have facial flushing, you probably hear this all the time. In fact, quite a few people have skin that reddens easily. Some carried the nickname "tomato face" since childhood, but surprisingly many people are troubled by facial flushing that appears suddenly after their 40s.

Many people dismiss it at first as a temporary symptom, only to find the symptoms gradually worsening and adding stress to daily life. If this sounds familiar, facial flushing should never be taken lightly. Let us walk through the reasons one by one, and then look at how it can be treated.

Why does facial skin flush so easily, and how is it treated before it progresses to rosacea? Head Director Choi Jae-won, who oversees lifting and pigment disorder care, explains it himself.

"Beyond simple treatment, we provide scientific skin solutions grounded in extensive clinical experience and proven procedures."

Why It Starts In Your 40s

Why facial flushing appears
as you get older

Some people have skin that has flushed easily since they were young, but far more come to the clinic because their symptoms worsen as they enter their 40s. Here is why.

① Changes from skin aging In your 40s, collagen and elasticity in the skin decline, and the skin gradually becomes thinner and more sensitive. As a result, it reacts easily even to external stimuli or changes in body temperature.
② Reduced elasticity of blood vessels The capillaries beneath the skin also lose elasticity with age. The vessels stay dilated without being able to constrict, leaving the face in a chronically reddened, flushed state.
③ Hormonal changes in menopause For women in particular, hormonal changes during menopause often bring on "hot flushes," where the face suddenly heats up or turns red. Some people also suffer flushing episodes that redden not only the face but the neck and upper chest as well.
Facial telangiectasia - dilated fine blood vessels beneath the skin

The Main Cause

The main cause of facial flushing
= telangiectasia

The most common cause of facial flushing is telangiectasia — dilated capillaries. The fine blood vessels beneath the skin widen, making the face redden easily, and once dilated, the vessels do not recover on their own; they are more likely to keep getting worse.

Triggers of capillary dilation
  • Genetic predisposition : a constitution in which blood vessels dilate easily
  • UV exposure : ultraviolet rays damage not only the skin but also the blood vessels
  • Spicy food, alcohol, hot drinks : classic triggers that induce vessel dilation
  • Excessive cleansing and scrubbing : damage to the skin barrier leaves vessels more exposed
  • Stress and lack of sleep : autonomic nervous system imbalance triggers flushing

If Left Untreated

If facial flushing is left alone,
rosacea becomes a risk

Left untreated, flushing can develop into rosacea. Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition in which the face stays persistently red, accompanied by symptoms such as heat, stinging, and itching. In severe cases, papules or pustules can form on the face and damage the skin.

How We Treat It

How we treat facial flushing
and rosacea

One of the most effective approaches to treating facial flushing is vascular laser treatment. This procedure selectively shrinks only the dilated vessels, effectively reducing redness.

Vascular laser treatment delivers laser light of a specific wavelength that is selectively absorbed by hemoglobin, selectively destroying dilated capillaries and inducing changes in the vessel walls. The dilated vessels gradually constrict or close, and redness can be reduced effectively with minimal damage to the surrounding normal tissue.

The reason this treatment works so well is that the laser acts with great precision, selectively on the target vessels only. The laser energy absorbed by hemoglobin is converted into heat, coagulating the vessel walls and narrowing the vessel lumen to reduce blood flow.

Step-by-Step Care

Facial flushing and rosacea:
step-by-step treatment

Because facial flushing has multiple underlying causes, a single treatment has its limits. Step-by-step, tailored treatment matched to your skin condition and the stage of the flushing is what works.

STEP 01

It starts with an accurate diagnosis

  • Using precision imaging equipment, we closely analyze the degree of redness and the condition of the blood vessels to establish the optimal treatment plan.
STEP 02

Managing vessel dilation and inflammation

  • Vascular laser (V-beam) - selectively reduces dilated capillaries to lessen the redness in the skin.
  • IPL - improves inflammation and epidermal pigmentation over larger areas for a more even complexion.
STEP 03

Strengthening the skin barrier and caring for sensitive skin

  • When needed, Needle RF (microneedle radiofrequency) delivers energy directly to the dermis, helping to ease inflammation and restore dermal tissue.
STEP 04

Soothing the skin and preventing recurrence

  • Cryo (cooling and soothing) therapy - quickly calms skin left sensitive after flushing treatment and keeps it comfortable, lowering the chance of recurrence.
  • LDM (ultrasound care) - improves moisture and elasticity in the skin, supporting long-term management of flushing.
STEP 05

Maintenance and preventive care

  • Depending on your skin condition, maintenance treatments such as vascular laser or IPL are performed periodically to minimize recurrence of flushing and rosacea.
  • Alongside lifestyle management, oral or topical medication prescribed by a specialist is used as needed to keep the skin healthy over the long term.

Treating facial flushing is not just about removing redness — the goal is to fundamentally restore the skin's health for long-term improvement and prevention.

High-End Treatment Equipment

Key equipment used
in flushing treatment

These are the devices responsible for each stage of facial flushing and rosacea treatment.

Vbeam Perfecta - 595nm pulsed dye vascular laser device
01 / PULSED DYE LASER

Vbeam Perfecta

Vbeam Perfecta is a laser device that uses a 595nm pulsed dye laser to treat vascular conditions such as flushing, rosacea, red acne marks, and telangiectasia. It selectively targets blood vessels to reduce pigment and ease redness, while also promoting skin regeneration to help even out skin tone. It is particularly effective for chronic redness caused by rosacea and for the red marks left after acne inflammation, and by inducing collagen production in the skin it also helps improve overall skin elasticity. A mild heat stimulus is applied during treatment, but a cooling system keeps discomfort low; the skin may redden temporarily after the procedure but recovers quickly.

Cellec V - IPL treatment device with 9 filters
02 / IPL

Cellec V

Cellec V is a device based on IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology, distinguished by its 9 filters that allow tailored treatment of a wide range of skin concerns. It is effective at easing flushing and telangiectasia and improving pigmented lesions such as melasma, blemishes, and freckles. It is also used to suppress acne bacteria, reducing inflammation and easing acne marks. With its patented cooling system, treatment involves little discomfort, and with no scab formation or severe redness afterward, you can return to daily life quickly. The skin may redden temporarily after treatment but gradually improves over time, and with consistent care it helps maintain a clear, even skin tone.

Potenza - microneedle radiofrequency (RF) treatment device
03 / MICRONEEDLE RF

Potenza

Potenza is a procedure that combines microneedling (MN) with radiofrequency (RF), offering skin regeneration, increased elasticity, improvement of acne scars, pore reduction, and softening of fine lines. Fine needles are inserted into the skin to deliver RF energy, activating collagen production within the skin, increasing elasticity, and improving overall skin texture. It is particularly effective for deep acne scars and enlarged pores, and its settings can be adjusted so it can be applied safely even to sensitive skin. Temporary redness or dryness may appear after treatment, but recovery is quick and a natural-looking improvement can be expected.
