Skin Botox is a technique in which Xeomin is diluted with saline and finely injected into the superficial layer of the dermis at multiple points. Unlike conventional Botox, which targets the expression muscles, it targets the skin itself and the superficial muscle fibers and sebaceous glands adjacent to the dermis.
In the academic literature, the toxin is typically diluted to a concentration of 20–28U/mL and injected at 0.01–0.05mL per point along a 1cm² grid using a 32–34 gauge needle, aiming for a shallow depth at which a small bleb forms in the skin.
Small amounts of toxin dispersed shallowly ease excessive contraction of superficial muscle fibers and reduce secretory stimulation of the sebaceous glands, inducing changes that refine skin texture and make pores less noticeable.
If injected too deeply, it can affect the expression muscles, so shallow intradermal injection and small dispersed amounts are the essence of this procedure.

How long does the treatment take?
The injection process itself is reported to take about 10–15 minutes. However, since time for numbing cream application and waiting is added, it is best to book your visit with time to spare. The full face involves more injection points and takes longer than the neck.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?
A very fine 32–34 gauge needle is used and only 0.01–0.05mL goes into each point, so the discomfort is not severe. However, because there are many injection points, applying numbing cream before the procedure is standard. Cooling is added if needed.
What about recovery and returning to daily life?
Small blebs and redness appear at each injection point but usually subside within a few hours. For 4 hours after the procedure, you are advised not to rub or press the face directly. Avoid saunas and strenuous exercise on the day; afterwards you can go about your usual routine.
How many sessions and how often?
Changes usually begin to appear about 1 week after treatment, become clear around 4 weeks, and the duration is reported to be about 3 months. The literature recommends repeat treatment at 2–3 month intervals. The schedule is adjusted during consultation according to your skin condition and goals.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Energy-based treatments such as lasers and radiofrequency are recommended to be performed before Skin Botox, while fillers can be done on the same day. If you want additional procedures, an interval of about 2 weeks is recommended. Combined with lifting treatments, elasticity and skin texture can be managed separately.
