How This Equipment Works
Thermage CPT is a non-invasive lifting device that uses 6.78MHz monopolar radiofrequency. The radiofrequency emitted from the electrode meets the electrical resistance of tissue, and the resulting resistive heat warms the dermis and the fibrous septae beneath it.
The radiofrequency energy reaches a depth of about 4mm beneath the skin surface, contracting dermal collagen immediately and then inducing a remodeling process over the following months, in which new collagen is regenerated and reorganized.
CPT stands for Comfort Pulse Technology: the radiofrequency is delivered in pulses interspersed with cooling spray, with handpiece vibration added, so that discomfort during treatment is kept low. By cooling the surface while heating the deeper layers, the epidermis is protected.
Dedicated tips are available for each area — a 3.0cm² Total Tip for the face and neck, a 0.25cm² Eye Tip for around the eyes, and a Body Tip — selected to match the treatment site.

How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the size and location of the treated area, it takes from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Facial areas are relatively quick, while larger body areas such as the abdomen or thighs take longer. Allow extra time for consultation and numbing cream application.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?
Cooling spray alternates between radiofrequency pulses and the handpiece vibrates at the same time, so the system is designed to keep discomfort low during treatment. Numbing cream may also be applied beforehand. You may feel a warm, prickling sensation at the moment energy is delivered.
What about recovery and returning to daily life?
As a non-invasive procedure with no incisions, you can return to daily activities immediately afterward. Temporary redness or mild swelling may appear but usually subsides within 24 hours. No dedicated recovery period is required.
How many sessions, and how often?
Most plans involve a single session, with changes from collagen regeneration appearing gradually over 2 to 6 months after treatment. The interval for maintenance re-treatment is decided at consultation after assessing your skin condition.
Can it be combined with other procedures?
It is often combined with botulinum toxin, fillers, and ultrasound lifting, with each playing a distinct role. Radiofrequency addresses elasticity and skin texture, toxin addresses expression lines, and fillers address volume, so they can be planned to complement one another. The order and spacing are decided after consultation.
