Used for wrinkles that fold repeatedly through habitual expressions, such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet. Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the signal traveling from nerve to muscle, easing excessive muscle contraction and helping improve wrinkles that had been deepening with each fold.

Xeomin is an injectable type A botulinum toxin obtained and purified from Clostridium botulinum; its generic name is incobotulinumtoxinA, and it is manufactured by Merz in Germany.
The injected toxin binds to motor nerve endings at the neuromuscular junction, enters the cell, and cleaves SNAP-25, a protein of the SNARE complex. As vesicles carrying acetylcholine can no longer fuse with the cell membrane, neurotransmitter release is suppressed and the contractile force of the treated muscle is temporarily reduced.
Xeomin is formulated with the complexing proteins removed during purification, leaving only the neurotoxin protein. Before opening, the vial is approved for storage not only refrigerated but also at room temperature (20–25°C).
The US FDA-approved doses are 20 units for glabellar lines, 20 units for horizontal forehead lines, and 24 units for crow's feet; injection points and depth are determined according to the position and movement of the expression muscles.

How long does the procedure take?
The injection itself is usually completed in about 10 minutes. Including numbing cream application and waiting time, it is best to allow a little longer for your visit. A consultation to assess the position and development of your expression muscles is carried out as part of the process.
Does it hurt? Is anesthesia used?
A very fine needle is used, and there is only a momentary pinprick sensation. If needed, numbing cream or cooling is applied before the procedure to reduce discomfort. Because the injected volume is small, the procedure is generally well tolerated.
What about recovery and returning to daily life?
Needle marks or slight redness may remain but usually fade within a few hours, and you can return to daily activities the same day. For several hours after the procedure, avoid rubbing or pressing the injection sites. It is best to avoid heavy drinking and strenuous exercise on the day of treatment.
How often should it be repeated?
The effect typically appears around 7 days after injection and is reported to last about 3 months. Accordingly, repeat treatments are often planned at 3-to-4-month intervals. Dose and interval are adjusted at consultation according to wrinkle depth and muscle development.
Can it be combined with other procedures?
It is often planned together with fillers, skin boosters, and laser or radiofrequency treatments. Energy-based laser or radiofrequency procedures are recommended to be performed before the toxin injection, while fillers can be done on the same day. As their purposes differ, they complement each other well.
